When

Athletes should check our website for a detailed list of when/where each age groups on court evaluations will take place. For a full evaluation, please attend all tryouts for your age group and register/attend one fitness evaluation (note that all fitness sessions are limited to 25 per timeslot and are granted on a first come first serve basis). Although we try our best to not make any changes to the schedule, the tryout schedule is subject to change. Please continue to check our website www.ottawafusion.ca regularly.

Cost for Tryouts

• Now - Sept 10: $50 per athlete (advance registration)

• Sept 11 and Later: $75 per athlete (late registration)

An auto reply email will be sent to you that require the athlete to register for a fitness evaluation time slot as well as register into the Ontario Volleyball Association. Athletes are to only pick one fitness evaluation timeslot as spaces are limited and provided on a first come first serve basis. There is no additional charges when selecting your fitness evaluation timeslot. When registering in the Ontario Volleyball Association please select "Tryout Athlete" as there will be no charge for that option.

General FAQ's

What if an athlete wants to tryout for a different age group?
We require all athletes to first report to their chronological age category. If an athlete demonstrates they have both the technical skills and physical attributes to play up in age, consideration is given. Similar if an athlete is born between September and December, they can be given consideration to play at the age group that is one year younger. All coaches are provided athletes birth year so that they can best identify what team best fits the athletes long term development in the sport.

How long is the season?
Our teams are selected in September and will practice 3 days a week with the season concluding late April or Early May. All Fusion teams will work with Sport Science professional staff for their strength and conditioning throughout the season. Our 14U and younger teams will have 1 weekly strength and conditioning session (in addition to their 3 on court practices) while our 15U and older teams will participate in 2 strength and conditioning sessions each week. To help reduce weekly travel for the athlete/parent, we try and schedule one of the strength and conditioning sessions just prior or immediately following an on court practice.

What is the teams practice schedule?
Teams will follow a predictable schedule week to week. This schedule is always subject to change though as gym availability is sometimes altered and require teams to find an alternate training location for some weeks. Athletes and parents will be provided as much notice as possible when a change is required.

How much will a season cost?
Program Fees range from $2500 - $3800 depending on the age category and number of tournaments a team enters.
